gastroscopy

So on the 11th i had one of these! not fun! i get there shortly before 11 am, havnt had any water food or meds since 11 the night before. I fill out some forms and shortly after they take me away. put in an IV. which took half an hour to do! they had 3 different people try and 4 pokes before they got it! they even tried one in my wrist, now thats painful!!! finally they got one in my finger. which was only slightly better then the wrist. so there I sit there with a bag of fluid untill right before 12 pm, then they lay me down in this small room, hook me up to O2 (because sedation makes your breathing shallow) and make me wait. In comes this lady in a gown, she says hi, checks my chart and starts yelling at people that i am 15 minutes early for my procudure. I felt bad that i was there even though it wasnt my fault lol. so a couple minutes after 12 the doctor comes in, gets me to sign consent and then outs the sedation through the IV. he tells me it wont be so bad if i just take big breaths through the whole thing. they put something in my mouth between my teeth...i am guessing so i cant close my mouth. they asked me how i was feeling i said ok...so they out in more sedation. at this point its get a bit blurry, but i do fairly clearly remember them putting it down my throat and me gagging a lot. that was not a fun feeling. but the whole thing only took about 3 mins and i was too groggy to fight or anything. then they put me in recovery. waited for a little bit and called brant (who was right in the waiting room anyways) i was fairly awake at this point, which seemed to surprise them. i was able to get up and put my shirt back on (i was wearing a gown, and my own bottoms and bra) and then brant was there and we went home. the walk back to the car was long and boy did it feel long. i am not good at working right now becuase of my weight, but add on reccently being sedated and my head was swimming. i was a bit tired and light headed for the rest of the day....but brant stayed home so other then going to my kids school bbq i didnt have to do much.oh and my throat was a bit sore but i was still able to eat right away. i wouldnt recomend doing one of these for fun, but it wasnt has bad as i thought it was going to be. next appointment, July 2nd...to see if i am save for surgery...also will get results from all the tests and such. although for this one they did say everything looked good. they send off some for biopsie anyways...but thats standard procudure.

psychologist

so i saw the psychologist from the bartric unit a couple weeks ago. we talked for 1.5 hours about my mental health hitory and how i am feeling now. she said that by looking at my file, from talking to social work, she didnt think I would be approved for the surgery. talking to me and brant she realized that I have a fairly good handle on things since my hospitlization. but i do need to see her a couple more times to make sure i remain stable and out of hospital. i am nervous about that, but my doctor is certain i can do it. she is also going to talk to my pyschatrist to see what he says about all this. but i am not too worried about that. i go back to see the psychologist in hamilton on june 27th. tomorrow i am going to hamilton to have a pricdure done. i can never remember the name of it, but it involves sedating me and outting a camera down my throat,. very nervous!!! but it shouldnt be a big deal. Hubby has the day off work to take me and MIL is watching the kids. only a few more things before i find out if i qualify! cant wait!
